Apple and Plum Crisp

This is a simple fruit crisp that we make with Fuji apples and ripe plums picked from the trees in our backyard.

:  Obviously, this dish is great with ice cream or whip cream!  :

Directions

:  Peel and slice the apples, halve and pit the plums, then toss the apples and plums with the sugar and butter.

6 cups Fuji apple, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups fresh, ripe plums, halved and pitted
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon butter, cut in tiny pieces

:  Combine the topping ingredients in a bowl. Don't overmix.

1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoon butter, cut in small pieces
1/3 cup old fashioned rolled oats

:  Arrange the fruit in a 9" x 13" glass baking dish. Sprinkle the topping over the fruit.

:  Bake in the oven at 375F for about 1 hour or until the juice is bubbling and the apples are tender.

Kids!

Since we have the trees at our house, the kids get to pick the fruit. But frankly, this is a dish that kids can make by themselves.

Notes...

Adjust the amount of sugar based on the ripeness of the fruit. The recipe assumes apples that are not overripe, but plums that are very ripe.
